What's New

Chloe further continues to progress and dominate. A jump over 4m29 has brought her Belgian Outdoor Record 3 cm higher than her previous success at 4m26. This new height has established Chloe as the best female pole vaulter in Belgian history, indoor and outdoor.

After the Belgian Championship Chloe has continued on a gold streak. In Waremme she won with a 4m06 jump (with no previous misses) where she then attempted 4m22. In Nivelles she battled it out against Leonie Schilder and Fanny Smets (both jumping 4m10), with unpleasant winds, she took the gold with a jump on her second attempt at 4m20 and then attempted 4m30 for a Belgian Record, but was unsuccessful. With bad weather conditions (hard rain, side wind, and cold weather (the Belgian summer weather), Braine l'Alleud became a training competition. Jumping from eight steps with only one light pole, she still won the competition.

Another successful competition was yesterday in Berchem Sainte Agathe. She jumped 4m26 for a new Outdoor Belgian Record, a personal record and another first place.

Chloe has dominated 2012, taking the last title yesterday at the Belgian Outdoor Championships, giving her a total of four titles: Flemish Champion Indoor, Flemish Champion Outdoor, Belgian Champion Indoor, and Belgian Champion Outdoor.

A good stable competition, she commenced at 3m85 (o), 4m (o), 4m10 (o), 4m15 (xxo), 4m20 (xo), and then attempted 4m30.

Mid May Chloe started her season with a 4m meter jump  and her first ever 100m hurdles in 15'19 at the Interclub. She was also the starter for the 4x100m, unfortunately the last exchange occurred just outside of the lines, disqualifying the team. Her performances helped KVAC to maintain their place in the first division.

A week later she jumped 10cm (4m10) higher to win the Flemish Outdoor Championship, making her both the indoor and outdoor Flemish Champion.

Yesterday in Thionville, France, she jumped 4m22, just 1cm short of the Belgian record, for a new personal outdoor record, placing her second behind the Dutch Rianna Gailart (4m32). Two attempts at 4m32 were well in proximity.

Welcome to my Blog!

Indoor

It’s been I while since I’ve written, sorry about that. I’ll try and post more often in the future.

I started my season quite early this year, mid-December, meaning I was still making adjustments during my first couple of competitions, especially to  my complete run-up. I opened with a 4m21 jump and good attempts at 4m31. Aware that there were still adjustments to be made, I felt positive after this opening performance.  At my next two competition, things felt off, I made some technical mistakes that I had not made in a while. In Orleans, even though I was not feeling well and was low on energy, things started piecing back together (maybe I couldn’t use my strength as much :)), and in Rouen, while I only made my opening height (4m11), my misses at 4m26 were unfortunate, with my pole being too soft for my first attempt and me being under on the last attempt, resulting in me having enough height, but not enough penetration, making me glaze the bar upon decent just enough for it to fall off. In Dijon, I made 4m15 and then had three very good attempts at 4m30. As the box was closed more than usual, it made it difficult to penetrate completely, I therefore used easier poles, which ended up being too weak for my 4m30 attempts. While I am yet to be satisfied (I want more and I want it now :)), I have become more consistent at 4m15-20, which in time will correlate to higher heights! And with the good sensations from Dijon, I am looking forward to my next competitions!
